Misri-Daana Kaju Katli
काजू कतलीCashew and rock-sugar sheet, cut with a silver wire, finished with edible silver varq. The 1964 recipe, untouched.
MISRI is Old Delhi's heritage mithai & namkeen house — the same copper kadhais, the same 4:30 AM bhatti, now in gift boxes designed for this century. Every festival begins at our counter.
Lala Misri Lal Gupta crossed into Delhi in 1947 with a copper kadhai, a notebook of recipes in Urdu shorthand, and eleven rupees. By the next Raksha Bandhan he had a counter in Kinari Bazaar — and a queue.
Nothing essential has changed. The khoya still arrives from Khurja before sunrise, the kesar is still Kashmiri, and the first laddu of every batch still goes to whoever is standing closest. What has changed: our boxes now travel to Singapore, Toronto and San Francisco every festival week.
Third-generation owner Ananya Gupta runs the house today — same corner, same bhatti, new ribbon.
Every box below is weighed at 500 g, packed the morning you order it. Prices are honest Chandni Chowk prices — the ghee is where the money goes.
Choose your box, then tap mithai to fill it piece by piece — watch the weight and the bill add up honestly. Tie a ribbon message and it goes on a hand-written card, in Hindi or English.

Rakhi morning at MISRI has looked the same for 78 years: sisters at the counter by 7, brothers pretending they didn't come for the kaju katli. Pre-book your pickup slot — festival week sells out every year.
Raksha Bandhan falls on Friday, 28 August 2026 · Shubh muhurat 7:04 AM – 12:36 PM
Pick a date and a window — shagun token ₹101, adjusted in your bill.
Our workshop sits two lanes behind the counter. Nothing is outsourced; the only machine is a khoya grinder from 1979 that has a name (Badshah).
Khoya from Khurja, ghee from a Rohtak bilona house, kesar from Pampore — checked, smelled, tasted at 4 AM.
Copper kadhais over wood-fire heat. Sugar is a seasoning here, never the point — every batch tasted thrice.
Kaju katli sheets rest 20 minutes, then are cut with a silver wire — the 1964 trick for edges that don't crumble.
No cold rooms, no "best before" mathematics. What you collect at 9 AM left the kadhai at 7.
Strong, gingery, clay-scented. Cuts straight through ghee-rich besan laddu and doda barfi.
Milky and cardamom-forward, poured from a height. Made for kaju katli's quiet sweetness.
Jalebi after sunset must be eaten standing, off a newspaper, with someone you're arguing lovingly with. House rule since 1948 — the chai is on us every Rakhi morning.
My grandfather bought his wedding mithai here in 1962. We ordered my daughter's from the same counter last winter — the kaju katli tastes like the story he used to tell.
Sent the 25-piece Rakhi box to my brother in Toronto through their WhatsApp desk. He video-called mid-bite. The ribbon card in Hindi broke him a little, in the best way.
We do our Diwali corporate gifting here — 340 boxes last year, every ribbon message different. Ananya ji's team proof-read our Hindi. Nobody else does that.
Bulk gifting from 50 to 5,000 boxes with custom sleeves, logo foiling and staggered delivery across Delhi NCR. Trousseau packing is our quiet speciality.
